Oldy but goody

I know, I've been gone recently. Thats because I started school a few weeks ago. My schedule just got super busy! I'm taking 12 units of classes in the mornings and then I have tennis team in the afternoon, 5 days a week! I'm not used to getting up super early (for me thats 6:30!) and with the added exercise I'm super tired by the end of the day and on weekends I just crash. The other friday I fell asleep at 7:30 pm. 7:30!!! pretty lame right? I'm still taking pictures of my looks if they're any good, but I tend to do this look a lot, or this one:

Products used:
lid: California Blonde from Sephora
Crease: Gunmetal Grey Satin Powder from Kryolan
Middle of lid: I patted on a little Goldilux from Sugarpill
Brow highlight: Tako from Sugarpill
lower lid: Gunmetal grey from Kryolan

more peacock!

I redid the peacock look I did a week back with better and brighter colors. SO much better! The look was just looking a little muddy to me before, and so I tried it again with a few of my new colors :)

Products used:
NYX jumbo pencil in black bean as base
2/3 of lid: Teal pigment from mac
1/3 of lid: Soya from Tokidoki
Crease: Creep right above teal, Darkhorse right above that, and then Smog. all from Urban Decay Naked palette
Brow highlight: Tako from Sugarpill
Lower Lid: Darkhorse and Smog mixed from Urban Decay Naked palette

GOOOLLLLDDDD!

Ive recently discovered that I have quite a few gold colored eye shadows. Its one of those colors that there are so many different tones and shades that it always seems necessary to buy. I did a head count and I own about 8 golds. Mainly because there always seems to be a gold when you buy a palette, but also because I love gold eye shadow, and who doesn't? It's like the black shoes for make up to me, can never have enough!!

Sugarpill Goldilux dry
Sugarpill Goldilux wet

mac!!

So I recently purchased my first Mac eye colors. I say eye colors because I use a blush for contouring and a pencil for my brows already. I know what your thinking already "how did you not already own mac??? aren't you supposed to be good at make up??" Here's my answer: I just didn't own mac eye colors before, and that doesn't mean I'm bad at make up, I just use different products. But also because Mac is a very overwhelming and expensive store. Ive been in a store before and even a pro store but there are so many choices I get over whelmed and buy nothing. and theres that price tag, Mac is a very expensive store and I like to get more bang for my buck. Main reason I buy palettes and not many single eyeshadow colors.
But I took the plunge the other day and bought a eyeshadow color and some pigments. Now your dying to know what colors. basic ones like browns? never!!

The eyeshadow I bought was a color I've been looking for, a nice navy blue.

no primer, with Too Faced Primer Insurance

The pigments I bought from Mac I got through Makeup Geek because she sells just samples for around $4. the amount of product is about maybe half a teaspoon. I swatched the three colors I got four ways: by its self, with Too Faced Shadow Insurance, white base (nyx jumbo pencil in milk), black base (nyx jumbo pencil in black bean)

Let me see your Peacock

So, for some reason there is a trend of peacocks in the make up world. I think partialy due to Mac's new line 'Peacocky' (which is fabulous, by the way). I was able to see this bad boy in person while I was out getting some shoes this weekend, and I swatched almost all the colors (I only have 10 fingers!). I have to go back to actually pick up a color or two. BUT! with that in the back of my mind, and the fact that peacock make up has been popping up everywhere, I was inspired this morning while doing my make up. I made due with what colors I had, and it dawned on me that I do not own a fantastic teal eyeshadow, not ok. I think we know what color I'll be getting from the 'Peacocky' line!

I'm going to apologize for my eye brows, they're being taken care of tonight. don't worry!!

Sephora?

So this look started out as one of the Sephora holiday looks, but it really did not look cute on me. So I tweaked it for that evening, then reattempted the look (the tweaked version) a different night. I'm glad I did! It turned out so much better than I was expecting. It reminds me of the tropics and summer, or at least spring. Its still winter, but today was pretty nice, no jacked needed! Maybe my make up is helping....

no full face today :/

Products used:
silver (lid): Ooh & Aah from Too Faced
Pink: no. 75 pressed shadow from Make Up For Ever
Gold (brow highlight): Honey Pot from Too Faced
Gunmetal (crease): Gunmetal from Urban Decay (Naked palette)
Purple (lower lid): Unnamed purple from Hot Topic
Inner corner highlight: Virgin from Urban Decay (Naked palette)
Kat Von D liquid eye liner
Bare Escentuals mascara

I did  a toned down version of this for work one day too. All you have to do is exchange the bright silver for a darker one (I used the one in the Tarte jewelry box palette) and exchange the pink for a more muted one (I used Boy Toy from Too Faced). Still very colorful and bright, just a little more appropriate for day time.

Melt their hearts

I was feeling rather retro today, and one of the looks in Scott Barnes' book "About Face" was right on the money 50's style. If you get a chance, I recommend picking up this book. He has a unique way of transforming women of all ages and skin tones to make them glow and really look their best by bringing out features in ways you would never think of. I read this whole book on a slow day at work lol.

This is the part where I'd tell you what products I used, but most of the colors had no names and it's alot of work describing where they are. So this time, I'm going to describe the colors to use and where to use them.

I started with the crease this time, placing it above my natural crease to create more space on my lid. I used a combination of browns and a touch of gunmetal and a tiny bit of black to emphasize the cut crease. I used a fluffy brush to blend out the top only, then placed a matte super light tan (not quite white) below the brow to highlight. For the lid I combined two shimmery shadows, both super light. one with a yellow tint, and one with a pink tint. Draw on some dramatic eyeliner with a wing, add mascara on top and bottom lashes and done! no shadow on lower lid.

Got that glitter on my eyes

HAPPY NEW YEARS EVERYONE! hope everyone had a lovely new years eve and brought in 2011 with good company.
My new years eve look was inspired by the one and only Ke$ha. Her make up artist does wonderful and daring things, which I love. There were about three looks in her "We R Who We R" video. the first one is here, but the second look is just fantastic. she has a dark blue eye with a super wing and glitter everywhere (I am possibly glitter's #1 fan).  Although I do love the black cheek and glitter lips, those are better left for the video.
